A slight change of plans

As I noted in my last post, I thought I’d take a tour for my upcoming vacation. However, as I wanted to go quite soon I encountered some issues. I found that there weren’t that many tours I liked with available spaces and that their dates didn’t correspond well with when the flights were the cheapest. So, I have decided to just visit one city.

I decided on Europe as this is a good time of year for going there and with the exception of a couple of airports I haven’t been there at all. I know I’ve stated in the past that Europe is a place that can wait until I’m old but I feel like going now and I’m really starting to feel old anyway (30 is getting frighteningly close now). After looking at flight prices (and to a lesser extent hotel prices), I had decided that I’d either go to Paris or Rome. I waffled between the two for a of couple days but yesterday I decided on Paris, mostly because the weather forecast looked better for Paris (as in cooler temperatures). Hopefully, Air Transat doesn’t prove to be too awful.

I’m leaving late Friday evening and I’ll be returning the next Saturday (August 6). I’m currently looking through a guidebook, Wikitravel and such. I’m also trying to decide whether or not to book a Segway tour. It looks like it would be a really fun experience but it seems a bit overpriced.

At last, a job!

I received a very exciting phone call this morning! I was offered a job that I had an interview for a while back and naturally, I accepted. The job won’t start until near the of August but I’ll probably move a bit before I start the job. By the way, the job is located in a place called Happy Valley-Goose Bay in Labrador. It will definitely be quite different from anywhere I’ve lived previously.

I am seriously contemplating going on a fairly short vacation quite soon. I’ve looked a bit at air fares and available spots on tours leaving fairly soon. I don’t really think I have the time to plan an independent vacation and I’m definitely feel like being lazy in terms of planning. I’m trying to decide where to go but I think it will largely be determined on price and availability.

So, it’s July now …

And I still don’t have a job. I’ve actually had a couple of interviews that went quite well and I was told after one of them that “if we could hire two people, we’d hire both of you.” Needless to say, I am even more frustrated than before! I’ve recently applied to a couple of international jobs; maybe that will be more successful?
